Adam Pacitti is my hero of the job hunting world. During the recent global credit crisis when landing a job was even more of a rarity than it is today this Brit spent ‘his last £500 on a billboard’ and got himself hired.
Guess how many job offers he received…
60! Ahhh, the luxury of multiple job offers!
Now to be clear, he didn’t just put up the billboard, sat back, and waited for his phone to ring. On his website he describes how he used multiple social media platforms over the course of several months to generate buzz.
Though his skill set is quite different than my Leadership Development and Talent Management background (he has a media production degree), I’m seriously considering doing something similar. It’s just so enticingly clever and as I posted yesterday this blogging challenge needs to generate its own buzz.
I’ve been having fantasies of seeing my face, website address and hash tag for the 90 Days To My Dream Job blogging challenge on a huge billboard along one of Phoenix’s numerous highways. The idea is pricey and risky, but it might be the way to land my dream job…
