Dear Husband-To-Be Dan,
I decided to write you this letter because, in truth, I wasn't able to get you anything for our anniversary (dang Blizzard of 2016!). I know you won't be embarrassed that I publish this letter on my small corner of the Internet otherwise known as my career and job hunting blog.
Heck, if you got your way every post would be about how much we love each other and how great you are, but I decided it was appropriate to veer off topic today to honor you and our anniversary. (Besides, I make a connection later on with knowing you and becoming a better professional so keep reading.)
I can't believe that four years ago today we met for the first time. On January 26, 2012 our paths finally merged and we've never been the same since.
For you, the connection was almost immediate. I remember so clearly that February night as we were scrambling to make the last train out of DC back to Philadelphia and you declared that you'd follow me anywhere. I was struck by how much you trusted me after just our second day together. And a few days after that how you earnestly told me that I make you want to be a better man. I believed you then and I believe you now.
Though it took me months more to realize how much you've changed me, there's no doubt that it's all been for the better. I've learned to listen more intently, to judge less often, to be more patient, compassionate and emotionally strong. In turn, I've become a better friend, family member, colleague and leader. Even in our arguments and in the work we do to understand each other's perspective I witness both of us improving and strengthening our connection.
You help me become the person I want to be in life.
When I realized you had this affect on me I wanted to be around you all the time! I can't wait then to call you my 'esposo oficial' (Spanish for 'official husband') in six more months. And I'll be ecstatic when we head west to Phoenix, AZ soon after to start our new life together (if I ever land this dream job-->shameless plug).
Thank you for all the faith you have in me and the love and understanding you've shown me throughout these four years.
Happy Anniversary! I love you mucho y mucho!
