If you don’t know me well, you probably could tell from yesterday’s post and posts prior that I’m open to self-help practices and positivity (Is that even a word?!? Doesn’t matter, I’m still open to it). This ‘new age self-help’ material not only keeps me motivated throughout the job hunting process, but also teaches me to be grateful which in turn keeps me happy. Highly valuable stuff.
So when a dear friend from business school referred me one night to a self-help blog I never heard of before I eagerly bookmarked it for later review. I’ve since become a subscriber of the blog, Marc and Angel Hack Life. This married couple, Marc and Angel, has made a whole career out of blogging, writing books, coaching and selling online courses. They don’t need to do a #90daystomydreamjob challenge—they created dream jobs on their own. I’m in awe of people who do that.
Though they push hard to sell their books and products and almost never do a post that isn’t in the form of a numerical list, they also provide a lot of value that’s free. One of their posts on the 7 Ways to Change Your Attitude When You Can’t Change Anything Else compelled me to write about them today.
I know how cynical and pessimistic this world can be and I’m aware of the stigma in openly embracing lessons from new age self-help—people have wasted time creating entire sites poo pooing some of it (albeit with some comedic truth)! But as I push myself today to finalize the list of 40 Phoenix employers I’m targeting, I hear their aphorisms ringing in my mind, cheering me along. I am so grateful for them.
Now how can that be a shameful thing?
